I now have some of the organizers with me and from left to right on TV we have... Christopher Plancich, Alma Plancich, Maria Plancich-Casovia. And the relation is... I am Alma Plancich, the mom of Maria and the grandmother of Christopher. And what does the Ethnic Heritage Council do in regards to the 21st annual Cultural Crossroads? What do we do? We organize this event. This is our 21st year. And we bring the communities together from the Pacific Northwest that live here. And that enrich our Northwest. And it's an opportunity to share them with everyone and for all of them to see each other. And your job title at the EHC is? Mine or Christopher's? Yours. Mine. I'm the executive director. And you've got your daughter doing... and what is it you do? I am the assistant director. Officially that is my title. And we've seen you perform in many Croatia festival events too. Yes, I am the artistic director of the El Lucrocreation Dance Ensemble. So I wear many hats. And this weekend here at the Cultural Crossroads I am MC on both stages. So I do a lot of running back and forth stages and loving it and meeting a lot of people along the way. And then your nephew, what do you get to do during all this? Do I really have a specific job? You do? Stage manager? I'm stage manager I guess for the event. And the children's activities. And the children's activities in charge of the children's stuff. And runner. And running. And assistant shopper because there's a lot of great places to shop here at Crossroads Bellevue. Plus all the booths that we have set up. We've left a great stuff to browse during our shopping. Actually Christopher has been our go-to guy whenever we need something we can't handle. We say, hey Christopher come get this. Etc. And go take care of the police who will help us with the children's area. Or go take a message to the lingo guy or the stage people or the sound. Stuff like that. Well I know that you guys have other things to do. And I'm going to be shooting some more footage including some of the booths. So I will let you go. But for more information the website for the 22nd annual event for those that missed the 21st is www.ethnicheritagecouncil.org. And you can also find us on Facebook. Okay well thank you ladies and gentlemen for your attention to the viewers of this program. Thank you. Thank you. So they were talking about a children's area. And there's a number of Legos set up. As well as lots and lots of pieces for kids to play with. And they're just cleaning up after some kids just left. But it's an all day activity with Legos. So we'll check out some of the booths as well. Sometimes some of the booths are not as manned but they have information. And the Andes Peruvian folks also have items as well as East India. Lots of jewelry. People checking it out. And then of course they have the dolls. The dolls are dressed in clothing of different cultures. And I'm continuously pointing out how regardless of where we come from we look as different as night and day. But we are much more alike than different. And as we get closer to the stage where the music is going on we have Africa being represented here. And beads and drums and t-shirts. And then there's meditation going on over here. And then at this one we have a variety of... This one might be Peruvian. Over here we have Hawaiians. Böyle? That was餓. then apply thisanny go stand up stand up stand up stand up right now. Fight. Can I see it? Fight! I can't see it. Fight. A slow correction. This is a Yacht line, sick dances of Yacht Island, Micronijah. Micronijah. Micronijah. This is the Handi-Di-Zi-Yin. In English it says, take my hand. Traditional Alaskan trinket singing, dancing and drumming. The next song we're going to do, I know this because I was told earlier, is a song that we acquired through the Tsimshian people. We got this song, we were out hunting and in our hunting area where the Tsimshian people, we overtook them, the hunting party, and we took their hunting leader from them and we held them at ransom. And they tried buying this song back from, I mean the guy we were holding ransom, they were trying to buy him back by offering us all kinds of stuff. And we kept on saying no, no, no. Then they finally asked, what do you want? And some of the most prized things that we have in our possession today are the songs you're hearing. A lot of our stuff wound up in museums throughout the whole world. You can find them in New York, you can find them in Europe, all over Europe. Some of the finest museums has our artifacts in it, but they couldn't take our songs from us. So they're very high prized and we got this song from the Tsimshian people, trading them that song for their prized hunter. The Tsimshian people. The Tsimshian people. The Tsimshian people. So as we take a look at some of the booths, of course, the Ethnic Heritage Council, who is a big sponsor of this event. Their booth is empty at the moment, but we did an interview with them earlier. And this one is Russian. The dolls and jewelry. And lots of people are taking a look at the variety of items here. So that's the Russian League Imports. And directly across we have Istanbul Imports. And as we continue, this is the Chinese booth. Featuring a number of products. So you can get the diversity of what's going on with all the different cultures. And then on the other side of the floor, we have the Asian Pacific Language School, teaching Chinese and Japanese since 1995. And then we have a variety of clothing on the back side. And I think this is more the traditional Inka Icos. I think it's the name of the business. And then we have a lot of religious items. And we have the Inka Icos. And I forget which organization this is. This is the Marian Missions. And you guys are always at this event. We are, yes. It's the last several years. Do you also go to another event, too? Several. Many. Yes. All summer long. There's different street fairs and festivals that we with, the Seattle Center and the different outlying cities around Seattle. And where is your parish? We're a missionary order. So when we're here we're either in Issaquah or Retin area, those two different places we have, mission outpost you might say. But we do travel to South America and Africa. And you have a website for more information if people want to learn or donate or anything like that? Yes, it's www.salvemariaregina.info. You probably need it spelled. Alright, well thank you very much. Okay, you're welcome. And as we continue around, we're going to go to the next one. Turns out that this is a combination store of Indonesia, Thailand, Nepalese and Indonesia. So they have a variety of items. And then we have Cookie Lee Jewelry supporting the Seattle Tamborit singers. And we have seen them perform as part of the Croatia Festival. And the US Citizen and Immigration Services is also here to try to give information and let people know about becoming a US citizen and how to do it and provide paperwork and just answer questions. And then we have the ARSC, which I believe is Russian. So they have a number of items here and information about what organization? The Association of Russian Speaking Communities, the Heritage. And do you guys have festivals or anything like that? Yes, we have a festival at Marymoor Park. It's organized by the Russian Community Center and every... Well that's another event that I haven't covered, so maybe one of these days I'll get a chance to cover it. Okay, we'll have to see what happens in that. And we also have the Palestinian Heritage Group being represented here. With a variety of Palestinian crafts. Back to some of the entertainment for a moment with some Irish dancers. Thank you very much. ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? and items and my guess is that many of the items are from those that have been forced out of Tibet. But they have some beautiful artistry and colors. And right next door we have the North and Western areas of India being featured here as the gentleman is texting. Lots and lots of different jewelry and other items will be found at this event. And then next door to them we have more china. And then a new one at this event is Tahiti, French Polynesia. And this being your first time here, how is it working out for you? Pretty good, a little slow, but we're making Tahitian culture more available to people and teaching them what French Polynesia is like, so that's our main goal. Does the Tahiti culture actually have any kind of festival or anything around this area? Yeah, there's a dance festival every year, it's in June, but it's an annual dance competition for everyone in the island, so that's their biggest festival. And where is that held? That is held in Papeete, which is the capital of Tahiti. But I mean in the Seattle area? There's nothing in particular here in Seattle. Our specific group over there is Tape Audio Tamatoa and we do a lot of cultural awareness and a lot of events, so we do Northwest Folklife and Seattle Center and a lot of other events around Seattle, but there's no specific event that we have. Is there a website or anything? Yes, there's a website, it's Tape Audio Tamatoa right here on our card. And so with that you can either contact us for Tahitian dance and drumming instructional or you can contact our performance group, which does a lot of events. Well I thank you for your time. Thank you. And as we continue around the corner from Tahiti, and as it gets closer for this event to close down, the Treasures of Peru is starting to close up, but we can hear some music from the Hungarians and we'll check them out as we close out this episode. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. you a link. And as always, thank you for watching Adventure TV Cultural Festivals.
